A New Baldness Cure Can Be Available In Just 2 Years

Baldness CureHair loss and baldness are very common problems in modern society. Before, hair loss was mainly about aging people, namely aging men, and every four of five men after 65 experienced severe degrees of hair loss. However, numerous factors contributed to this problem becoming topical for young people, both men and women, and those who are in their early 30s are already very well familiar with hair thinning and loss. This problem brings a lot of distress and psychological problems to those who suffer from it. Though not covered by any kind of long-term or short term medical insurance, male or female pattern baldness can cause quite serious consequences and increase risks of many serious health conditions, including even cardiovascular problems or some types of cancer.

Looking for an effective baldness cure has been a number one priority for many specialists for over the decade. Numerous studies have been completed making today’s science step by step closer to finding a unique hair loss treatment. It is reported that now, a new technology based on a recent discovery is on the way, and the scientists are currently discussing with pharmaceutical companies the details of putting the new product into production. A group of American scientists reported that the new technology is based on their discovery of an enzyme known as prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). This enzyme makes hair follicles stop producing health hair, therefore, by blocking its activities it is possible to provide an effective hair loss prevention.

This discover has been recently made by a group of scientists at Dermatology department at Pennsylvania University. During their work, the scientists analyzed over 250 genes and enzymes that play a role in hair loss related processes and mechanisms. It turned out that the levels of PGD2 had the most importance giving the specialists a way to creating a new baldness cure, mainly for male pattern baldness. The technology involves using substances and compounds which can assist in reducing the levels of PGD2 enzyme, and similar kind of technologies have already being used in several medications, like the ones recommended to patients with asthma to relieve the most common symptoms of this health condition.

The formula proposed as an innovative baldness cure was tested on 17 volunteers with various degree of hair loss. The levels of PGD2 enzymes in the participants were thoroughly measured and monitored during the experiment, and it was found out that the levels of this enzyme in bald spots were almost three times higher compared to the levels in hair areas. After the tests, it became apparent that the proposed technology really decreases the levels of PGD2 enzyme and gives excellent visible effects. After using this formula, participants managed to decrease the bald spots and start producing stronger and healthier hair.

Detailed report about the experiment and the findings of American specialists were published in the journal Science Translational Medicine in March 2012. In the report, George Cotsarelis, head of dermatology at Pennsylvania University, underlined the importance of the findings, saying that they can give an opportunity not only stop hair loss, but also create a new supportive technology for effective hair regrowth and strengthening. Many experts valued the findings very highly. “I can’t see why we won’t soon be able to intervene to prevent hair loss,” said Prof Des Tobin, Professor of Cell Biology and the chief of the center for skin sciences at Bradford University.
